The new sound installation titled "Timeless Waves" has been commissioned by the TBA21. This new 40 channel work may be visited at the Eminonu Square until 19th september 2010.

ERDEM HELVACIOGLU is one of the most renowned contemporary music composers of his generation in Turkey. His music has been performed and broadcast all around the world. His compositions have been included in prestigious festivals such as: The San Francisco Tape Music Festival, Sonorities Festival of Contemporary Music, Seoul International Computer Music Festival, Musica Viva Festival, Primavera en La Habana, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Third Practice Electroacoustic Music Festival. He has received numerous international awards for his electronic music including prizes from Luigi Russolo, Insulae Electronicae and MUSICA NOVA Electroacoustic Music Competitions. He has collaborated with Bruce Tovsky, Mick Karn, Kevin Moore, John Wilson, Kazuya Ishigami, Stuart Gerber, Robert Scott Thompson, Luo Chao-yun, Ros Bandt, Craig Green, Jacob Young, Elliott Sharp, Bill Walker, Nathan Larson, Per Boysen, Stefan Ostersjo, Sirin Pancaroglu and Saadet Türköz.

He has received commissions from artists and organizations such as the 2006 World Soccer Championship, 2009 Novelum Festival, TBA21 – The Morning Line, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Todd Reynolds, Kinan Azmeh, Margaret Lancaster, Cem Duruöz and Mesut Ozgen. He is also actively involved in composing for films, multimedia productions, contemporary dance and theatre. His sound installations have been included at such galleries as Los Angeles Track 16, Indonesia Soemardja, Köln Museum für Angewandte Kunst, London Menier and the 10th International Istanbul Biennial. He made the first and only permanent sound installation in Turkey. His film music has been heard at Cannes, Sarajevo, Locarno, Seoul, Sao Paulo, and Sydney film festivals and he received the “Best Original Soundtrack” award in the 2006 Mostramundo Film Festival. His music has been heard at radios all around the world including the BBC, ABC, WDR, Radio France. His second solo album “Altered Realities” has been included in the “Best 20 albums of 2007” list in All About Jazz, Textura and Cyclic Defrost magazines. His electroacoustic album “Wounded Breath” has been released in USA in December 2008 by Aucourant Records. This record has been included in the “Best albums of spring 2009” list in Culture Catch magazine along with artists such as Radiohead and Bob Dylan. His duo album with Per Boysen titled “Sub City 2064” has been released in Sweden in 2010. This record has been on the editors' top 3 cds list at the Guitar Player magazine september issue.

Helvacioglu has released the duo album “Black Falcon” with the Australian tarhu player Ros Bandt in December 2010. He has also released another duo album “Resonating Universes” in August 2011, this time with the Turkish harpist Sirin Pancaroglu. His solo album “Timeless Waves” has been released in January 2012 by the prestigious contemporary electronic music label Sub Rosa Records. His upcoming album “Eleven Short Stories” which consists of his solo prepared piano pieces, will be released by the American label Innova Records in March 2012. Currently Helvacioglu has been working on the new collaborative album with Nathan Larson, Nina Persson and also working on his new solo pieces.
